In February 2026, representative leaders from government, civic, labor, and community organizations officially submitted a petition to Fresno County in support of the Fresno County Transportation Improvement Act, a proposed 30-year ballot measure that would replace Fresno County’s current Measure C, a half-cent transportation sales tax set to expire in 2027.

CVCF is a proud supporter of this coalition of community leaders and the proposed measure they have crafted together. A diverse group of community leaders participated in many of the past Measure C community meetings across Fresno County. The Foundation will continue to support these endeavors to secure the measure’s placement on the November 2026 ballot.

 The Fresno County Transportation Improvement Act was crafted with historic levels of input from County residents. The proposed measure:

  • Dedicates 65% of the proceeds to repairing and improving local streets and roads — more than double the current level of investment;

  • Provides 25% of the proceeds to maintaining current levels of funding for public transportation;

  • Delivers another 5% to regional roads and major streets;

  • Includes 4% of funds for transportation innovation; and

  • Allows no more than 1% to administering the funds —

  • All without raising taxes!

CVCF supports this citizen-driven ballot measure because the proposed measure: (1) prioritizes funding for local streets and roads; (2) maintains funding for essential, life-line transportation services that are relied upon by seniors, students, veterans, people with disabilities, and others; (3) includes performance measures and holds government accountable for delivering real improvements to our transportation system; and (4) was crafted and is supported by a broad coalition of small business, community, government, and labor organizations.

Having equitable transportation access aligns with CVCF’s vision of creating a just and thriving region. Furthered transportation equity will result in economic inclusion growth and expanded access to workforce development opportunities. CVCF is incredibly proud of the hundreds of residents who have worked diligently on this project over the past several months.
