Central Valley Opportunity Fund (CVOF)

Founded in 2017 by philanthropic investors with a passion for Merced, the Central Valley Opportunity Fund (CVOF) is a private, donor-advised fund dedicated to improving the lives of residents in the greater Merced community.

Foundation’s Role

The Foundation administers this donor-advised fund.

Geographic Focus

Merced County

CVOF seeks to utilize the power of collective impact philanthropy by serving as a catalyst to draw in additional public and private resources, and establish regional partnerships to pursue strategic, research-driven investments aimed at equitable, lasting, and systemic change.

CVOF invests in impact-driven initiatives in three main categories:

Youth Development, Economic & Workforce Development, and Housing & Homelessness.

Youth Development

We believe every young person deserves opportunities to learn, grow, and thrive. These projects invest in the emotional, academic, creative, and physical well-being of youth across our region—expanding access to mentorship, healing, education, recreation, and community connection.

Economic & Workforce Development

We support programs that strengthen local economies and create pathways to meaningful employment for all residents. From apprenticeships that prepare individuals for in-demand careers to initiatives that expand digital access and skills, these projects empower people with the tools and opportunities to thrive in today’s workforce.

Housing & Homelessness

We work to ensure safe, stable housing and support for individuals and families experiencing homelessness. Through programs that remove legal barriers, provide long-term rental assistance, and offer pathways to reintegration, these projects help people regain stability and build a foundation for lasting independence.

We also support other community initiatives in Merced through grant funding, helping local organizations expand their impact and better serve residents in need.
