Thanks in part to the generosity of Dale Melville’s donor-advised fund at CVCF, Fresno now has a transitional housing center for young adults: Valley Teen Ranch’s Sierra Crossing. The facility provides a safe and supportive environment for young people as they take their next steps toward independence and stability.
“It’s an honor to contribute to Valley Teen Ranch to provide housing for young adults to be able to put their best feet forward and succeed in the world despite their past hardships,” said Dale Melville, a CVCF donor. “Young adults are the future of Fresno’s prosperity and should be provided with the necessary tools to make an impact.”
In partnership with Leadership Fresno Class 39, this first-of-its-kind housing development project came to fruition to house young adults ages 18 to 24, who were at-risk youth previously in foster care or overcoming homelessness. This permanent, affordable housing development is more than a home, it provides on-site support services, referrals to mental and physical healthcare, employment resources, and more.
Sierra Crossing consists of 95 housing units with 60 units designated for 18-24-year-old adults, increasing the number of the demographic served by more than 125 people between Valley Teen Ranch’s Transitional Living Home and Rapid Rehousing programs.
