Friends of the Foundation – March 2019 Dinner

On March 28th we had our first Friends dinner of 2019. Nearly 200 Friends gathered at The Fresno Bee in the old press bay. We celebrated the legacy and impact of local storytellers of the past, present, and future, with speakers including Tim Ritchey, Publisher at The Fresno Bee; Susan McClatchy of James B. McClatchy Foundation; Joaquin Alvarado of StudioToBe; Tim Haydock of the Youth Leadership Institute; Zyanna Maynard, reporter at The kNOw Youth Media; and Mas Masumoto, farmer, writer, and member of the CVCF board.

Seated along a 190-foot table, guests enjoyed “Breakfast for Dinner” – because that what you eat when you read the local paper! – of grapefruit salad, carrot and cream amuse bouche (that looked like a fried egg!), chicken and waffles, and drinks that included bloody marys, mimosas, and locally-roasted coffee. Friends took home a one-time special edition publication of the CVCF Insider chronicling Greater Fresno’s media history as well as a custom-made coaster (for your morning coffee mug, of course) designed by Fresno Bee editorial cartoonist, SW Parra.
