Shirley’s career in education encompassed teaching and administrative positions at the K-12, community college, and university levels.  She retired as Vice Chancellor of State Center Community College District.

Her academic achievements include a Bachelor’s degree from University of Nebraska at Lincoln; Master’s degree from Fresno State University; and a Doctorate degree from University of California at Davis.

She is proud, but humbled, to have received several awards which include Top Professional Woman of the Year; Leadership Fresno Alumnus of the Year; Community College Chancellor’s Award; and Fresno City College Distinguished Woman Award.

She believes in giving back to the community that has done so much for her and her family.  Currently, she serves on the boards of Storyland/Playland; Arts and Humanities School at Fresno State University; immediate past president of the Rotary Club of Fresno; and, looking forward to serving on the Central Valley Community Foundation Board.
